Appellate court upholds 11-year sentence for mentally ill felon who stabbed clinician in Maple Heights

CLEVELAND, Ohio - An appellate court on Thursday upheld the maximum prison sentence for a mentally ill man who stabbed his clinician last year.

Jason Halasz, 25, of Independence, was a patient at Signature Health on Southgate Park Boulevard in Maple Heights in April 2024 when he stabbed a medical worker in the neck and chased him down a hallway.
