HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Generation Power CT (GPCT) will open applications for the Emergency Energy Assistance program on Tuesday.
Qualified applicants will receive up to $500 to assist with fuel delivery or past-due utility bills.
Applications will be accepted through Sept. 10 and will be the first of four cycles for the program over the next several months. The other application windows will be Nov. 2-10, Jan. 2-10 and March 2-10.
GPCT, formerly Operation Fuel, said in a statement that the nonprofit organization increased its application cycles from twice a year to four times a year due to demand and community feedback.
GPCT said it will give priority to households facing low-fuel emergencies or pending shutoffs first and expects to serve over 5,000 households.
