PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — For months, neighbors in the Vistancia community in Peoria had feared that the Amkor semiconductor packaging and testing plant would be located right at their front door .

“There were a number of reasons why we didn’t want it in Vistancia,” resident Joel Resnick said. “Traffic and safety reasons and just the aesthetics. It doesn’t fit in this area.”

At council meetings, neighbors stood in opposition to the facility. However, Peoria Assistant City Manager Mike Faust said at a special city council meeting on Thursday that talks had been ongoing behind closed doors since December.

“Despite what some believe, despite what many have said. The council and staff has never lost sight of what in the best interest of the community,” Faust said.
