LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Webb County District Attorney’s office revealed their secured arrest warrant for the founder of Freedom Ranch Animal Rescue, Bernadette Mays on 31 counts of animal cruelty early on Friday morning.

Following the DA office receiving a complaint against Freedom Ranch back on August 20, they began an investigation of the facility. Isidro Alaniz himself, along with an investigator from the DA office took over the investigation on Monday, August 25.

During this investigation, Alaniz visited the Laredo Animal Care Services Center where dogs that were surrendered by Freedom Ranch are currently being held.

Alaniz stated that, “It was obvious the animals were neglected and not cared for.”
