TYLER, Texas — With high school football kicking off across Texas, there's a new rule fans need to know before they hit the stands and it's a game changer. But this year, refs have new power to quiet things down fast, thanks to a new law signed by Gov. Greg Abbott.

From Friday night lights to springtime baseball, sports are a huge part of Texas culture and so are the passionate fans.

Under Senate Bill 2929, officials have the right to eject anyone from school-sponsored sporting events for disruptive or inappropriate behavior. That includes any official associated with UIL events. And here's the catch, a verbal warning is not required.
