‘We’ve made changes to our processes’ – Swiss assisted-dying clinic contacts woman who found out through WhatsApp that her mother had died

The family of Co Cavan woman Maureen Slough have been contacted by the Swiss clinic where she was assisted to die last month.

Ms Slough’s daughter, Megan Royal, previously said she was informed of her mother’s death over WhatsApp.

Having told her family she was travelling to Lithuania, Ms Slough went instead to the Pegasos clinic in Basel.

The Pegasos group said it had received a letter from Ms Royal saying she was aware of her mother’s wishes, and verified this letter by sending an email to an address supplied to them by Ms Slough.

However, Ms Royal said she never wrote such a letter nor confirmed any contact with Pegasos before her mother’s death
