SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WMTV) - As schools begin classes and kids get back to school, safety is on the top of many parents’ minds. Following Wednesday’s deadly school shooting in Minneapolis , the Sun Prairie Police want to assure families that school safety is their top priority.

“Our goal is to provide that safe environment for students, staff, families and everybody who goes around the school. And given recent events, there’s probably a lot of anxiety, a lot of fear,” explained Sun Prairie Police Chief Kevin Warych.

Chief Warych says his team has been working on a detailed plan for school safety ahead of the school year’s start on Tuesday, September 9th.
