The Pittsburgh Steelers have released wide receiver Brandon Johnson from injured reserve with an injury settlement, according to the NFL transaction wire.

Johnson is in a walking boot after suffering a foot injury during the team’s final preseason game against the Carolina Panthers . It is unknown just how long Johnson will need to recover, but he is free to sign with any team.

Johnson can also loop back around to the Steelers after the time on the injury settlement passes. He was in position to likely make the team’s practice squad before the injury.

Johnson was in his second season with Pittsburgh after appearing in three games and catching 1 pass for 9 yards in 2024.

He caught a touchdown and had three receptions for 16 yards in Week 2 of the preseason against the Tampa Bay Bu
