Opening day is here for the Penn State program.
A non-conference date with a team from the Mountain West conference in State College should provide James Franklin’s Nittany Lions with an opportunity to get off to a strong start.
PSU is loaded with NFL prospects and Franklin has bolstered some perceived weak areas – wide receiver and linebacker -- with shrewd transfer portal additions.
Penn State begins its season with three consecutive home games against non-conference foes.
The Lions also have a bye before squaring off with defending conference champ Oregon at Beaver Stadium in prime time on Sept. 27.
First up for PSU is Jeff Choate’s Nevada Wolf Pack.
PENN STATE vs. NEVADA
Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. today at Beaver Stadium.
