A former Millville man was convicted Thursday of sexually assaulting two young girls over the course of six years in the city, officials said.

Brian Scherfel, 43, was found guilty of 13 crimes, including multiple counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to a statement released Friday from the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office.

Scherfel was found not guilty of two counts of third-degree aggravated assault, the office said.

The assaults happened between 2016 and 2022 and involved one girl between the ages of 8 and 13 and another who was 6 years old at the time, investigators said.

Scherfel is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 5, the office said.
