A cutout train decoration in Lewis Kingman Park is meant to honor the city’s long history with the railroad, but city officials say with its all-black finish and location towards the back of the park it’s all too easy to miss. The train cutout won’t be moving anywhere, but it could be getting a splash of color soon.

Kingman's Economic Development Commission heard from Adam Geller, Kingman’s Tourism Administrative Coordinator on Aug. 26, about the possibility of hiring an artist to paint the train at Lewis Kingman Park with themes of the city, and its connection to Route 66. Overall, the commission responded positively and unanimously voted to move the idea forward, but there were some questions about the project’s cost, and maintenance.
