OZARK – Rehobeth senior wide receiver E.J. Holmes wasn’t going to be denied.

With the Rebels trailing 20-19 and facing a 3rd-and-9 situation from the Carroll 40 with less than two minutes to play in the game, Holmes pulled in a pass that was almost intercepted and worked his way into the end zone in lifting Rehobeth to a 25-20 victory.

“Yeah, he almost picked it, but I had to be stronger and get it out of his hands,” Holmes said.

A Carroll defender was in good position to get an interception as he stepped in front of the pass thrown by Grant Golson, but Holmes reeled it in and then shook several defenders on the way to the end zone.

“I had that mentality where I didn’t want to get tackled,” Holmes said.

Rehobeth coach Toby Greene praised Holmes for the effort.
