The first full weekend of college football nears its end on Saturday night when former Pac-12 rivals battle when the Utah Utes visit the UCLA Bruins. Both teams have moved on to different conferences, but they are both trying to pick up a huge opening-night win.
The Bruins will be starting former Tennessee Volunteer, Nico Iamaleava, at quarterback and are hoping he can pick up an offense that scored 20 or fewer points in nine games last season.
The Utes will be starting Devon Dampier under center in the first game of the year. Dampier is a transfer from New Mexico, where he threw for 2,768 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2024. He did throw 12 interceptions, though.

UCLA vs. Utah prediction, pick:
The Utes and Bruins are both breaking in transfer quarterbacks, and it will be interesting to see how they do in the season opener. The Utes appear to be the better team, but UCLA is playing at home. Unfortunately, their home field hasn't been much of an advantage lately. Iamaleava brings some excitement to the Bruins, but we don't think it will be enough as the Utes escape with a win.
Prediction: Utah 31, UCLA 23
Best Bet: Devon Dempier anytime scorer -120, Utah -5.5
