Several years ago, I viewed news coverage from the Middle East that depicted armed vehicles and masked individuals seeking out dissidents for arrest. This experience reinforced my appreciation for living in the United States, where such conditions had not been part of my personal experience, until now.

A recent event at MacArthur Park in Los Angeles involving ICE officers and National Guard soldiers, some on horseback and others on foot, wearing camouflage uniforms descended upon the property looking for possible illegal immigrants to arrest, but found only a boys soccer camp. Nevertheless, the spectacle was quite intimidating and fearful for those living in the surrounding residences.
