KNOX COUNTY, INDIANA, Ind. — A Washington man has been arrested after allegedly leading police on a brief car chase Friday night.

According to Indiana State Police, a trooper stopped the driver of a black Jeep—a 40-year-old man from Washington, Indiana—just before midnight Aug. 29 for disregarding a traffic light on SR 550 and SR 67.

Police said the driver showed "signs of impairment."

Additional officers responded to the scene and the driver was told to step out of his vehicle so officers could conduct field sobriety tests, but he allegedly refused.

ISP said the trooper opened the driver's door and told the driver to get out of the vehicle, but he sped off.
