HMRC is set to rollout the biggest tax shake-up in years starting in 2026 - and tax experts are already sounding the alarm. The Labour Party government and its tax arm are set to introduce the "biggest tax shake-up in years", according to personal finance experts.

TikTok content creator Liane Ranaboldo warns the shake-up will make things "much harder" for UK households from April 2026. Liane's warning centres around the new Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment (MTD for ITSA) scheme.

The scheme will ask taxpayers to submit updates quarterly. "From April 2026, you won't just need to send one tax return a year anymore - you're going to need to send five submissions," Liane said.
