A man has been seriously injured following a stabbing in the Black Country.

The attack took place in the Hamstead area of Great Barr early this morning (August 30).

West Midlands Police was called to the scene on Middlemist Grove at around 1.45am today.

The victim, who was a man aged in his 20s, presented himself to hospital with serious injuries shortly afterwards.

Officers have arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.

The suspect remains in custody while enquiries continue.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.
