All four District 51 volleyball teams were playing at the Chaparral Showcase on Friday, one of the top tournaments in the state.

Fruita Monument and Palisade are both in the Gold Bracket and Central and Grand Junction are both in the Red Bracket.

The Wildcats lost their first match to Legend 32-30, 25-18 and then bounced back with a 25-13, 25-22 victory over Cherokee Trail.

Against Legend, serving and hitting errors were an issue for the Wildcats, according to coach Mike Lans. Cambelle Brammer had eight kills, seven digs and three aces in the loss, Parker Clarke had 21 assist and Mackenna Schena had 15 digs.

In the victory over Cherokee Trail, Brammer had nine kills and three aces — the Wildcats had 10 aces as a team — Clarke had 26 assists and Schena added 11 digs.
