If Alabama is going to return to the College Football Playoff, the Crimson Tide will need to play better away from home.
The Tide, which lost four times outside Tuscaloosa in 2024 and failed to reach the CFP, got an early chance to prove last season’s road woes were more of a fluke than a foreshadowing, but was stunned by a retooled Florida State 31-17.
It was the program’s first season opener loss since 2001.

The Seminoles have nearly 50 new players, including former Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos, whose performance was nothing short of an assault on Alabama’s defense.
Next up, the Tide hosts Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 6.
