The frustrations of a struggling offense were set aside by a strong defensive effort for the Cathedral City Lions, who earned their first football win of the season Friday in a 6-0 home game against San Bernardino.

“A win is still a win,” Cathedral City head coach Richard Lee said after his team managed a third-quarter touchdown to break a scoreless time. “We drove the ball down and just couldn’t put it in the end zone. Penalties. We had penalties last week, seven or eight, and we cut it down to six or seven this week. But still too many, and at key moments.”
