Panathinaikos are closing in on a late transfer window move for Cyriel Dessers . ‌

Sources in Greece have revealed Rui Vitoria’s side - who were dumped out of the Champions League in qualifying by Rangers - lead rivals AEK Athens for the striker. ‌

Dessers is in Russell Martin ’s squad for Sunday’s Old Firm clash. ‌

But that could well prove to be the 30-year-old’s last involvement with the light blues after two years in which he’s netted 52 goals in 115 appearances.

Rangers are understood to be holding out for £5m for the Nigeria international.

AEK had a bid thrown out by Ibrox chiefs last month and remain keen. But Panathinaikos are leading the chase for the former Genk frontman with just two days left to do business. ‌
