Newcastle United is reportedly open to the possibility of selling striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool if a bid of £130 million is received on deadline day. This marks a significant shift from their earlier stance, where the club insisted that Isak was not for sale. The Swedish forward has expressed a desire to leave St James' Park, but Newcastle has made it clear that they will only consider a sale if their valuation is met. They recently rejected an initial offer of £110 million from Liverpool, according to reports.

The club's Saudi owners have altered their position as the transfer window nears its end. If Liverpool tables a British-record fee, Newcastle may reconsider their decision. This would follow Liverpool's earlier record signing of Florian Wirtz for £116 million this summer. Initially, Newcastle had stated that they would not entertain offers below £150 million for Isak, but their recent change of heart indicates a willingness to resolve the ongoing situation.

Isak's desire to leave has intensified after he missed the club's pre-season tour due to an alleged injury. He has publicly accused the club's hierarchy of breaking promises, which has further fuelled his wish to depart. Despite the uncertainty surrounding Isak's future, Newcastle is still looking to bolster their squad. They recently completed a club-record signing of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart for £69 million, although they have faced challenges in securing other attacking targets.

The club's management acknowledges that Brentford is unlikely to sell Yoane Wissa, and Wolves are not expected to part with Jorgen Strand Larsen. As the transfer window closes, Newcastle is actively searching for new players but recognises that finalising any deals may be difficult.

Liverpool's coach, Arne Slot, hinted at the possibility of further signings, despite the club's significant spending this summer. He stated, "I don't think it's a surprise that we are trying to see if we can strengthen the squad." He added, "I always add to that 'for the right money and the right player' but I don't know if that's happening at the moment." The coming days will be crucial for both clubs as they navigate the complexities of the transfer market.
