A Florida police major was arrested on Saturday after being accused of driving under the influence on Interstate 95, officials said.

Riviera Beach Police Major Tavis Walker was charged with DUI.

According to Chief of Police Michael Coleman, Walker was traveling on I-95 in Palm Beach County when he was stopped by the Florida Highway Patrol north of 10th Avenue North.

Following the traffic stop, troopers arrested Walker.

Walker was placed on administrative leave, and his cruiser and equipment were taken.

He has been on the Riviera Beach Police force since 2002, where he started as a road patrol officer and quickly rose through the ranks.

In 2016, Walker was promoted to police major.

Online jail records show he is being held on a $1,000 bond.
