The Michigan State Spartans began Year 2 under coach Jonathan Smith with a 23-6 victory over the Western Michigan Broncos Friday night.

While it wasn’t an overwhelming result for the Spartans, there was plenty of good to take away from the team, particularly coming from a pair of veteran transfers.

Middle Tennessee transfer wide receiver Omari Kelly and Florida State transfer defensive lineman Grady Kelly earned the top Pro Football Focus grades on the team on offense and defense, respectively.

Omari quickly became a favorite target of quarterback Aidan Chiles, and for good reason. On 10 throws his way, Kelly made seven catches for a team-high 75 yards.
