Juan Gaston is set to do something no Georgia football offensive lineman has done since 2017.

The offensive guard went through warm-ups with the starting unit on Saturday, Aug. 30, ahead of the game with Marshall and was announced as a starter.

He would become the first true freshman offensive lineman to start in a season opener since Andrew Thomas at right tackle in 2017.

Gaston, listed at 6-foot-7 and 360 pounds, is expected to start at right guard.

Coach Kirby Smart was asked about relying on freshmen.
