The Savannah-Chatham County Board of Publication Education will review changes to its Gender Equity in Sports policy on Tuesday, Sept. 2. The revised policy includes replacements of references to "gender" with the term "sex."

The policy changes also note a revision that updates the Georgia Equity in Sports Act (passed in 2000) to the Riley Gaines Act, a revision to the first act that bans transgender girls from competing on girls' sports teams in schools and colleges. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed the Gaines Act into law this past April.
