A motorcycle rider was killed in a crash with an SUV, and witnesses told police the man had been driving “recklessly at high speed,” the Loveland Police Department has reported.

Just after 8 p.m. Friday, a Larimer County Sheriff’s deputy tried to stop a motorcyclist at Seventh Street and Boise Avenue for driving recklessly and speeding, but the driver did not stop, according to information released by the LPD. The deputy did not continue to chase the motorcycle after losing sight of it, police reported.

A short time later, a crash at Eisenhower Boulevard and Denver Avenue was reported to police. Officers that responded found that a motorcycle matching the description of the one that fled from deputies had crashed into an SUV, the LPD reported.
