SAN FRANCISCO — Verizon's service has been fully restored following a widespread outage on Saturday that left many customers' phones in "SOS mode."
"Service for current customers has been fully restored following today’s software-related service disruption. We will continue to monitor the situation to ensure no further impacts. Thank you for your patience as our engineering team worked to resolve the issue," the provider said on X in an early Sunday update.
More than 20,000 customers reported issues with their cell service, according to outage tracking website DownDetector . Reports began flooding in just after noon ET on Saturday.
Not all Verizon customers had outage issues. It’s not yet known why some peoples’ phones were working on Verizon and others weren’t.
