EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — The stars shined brightly for the UConn football team in the season opener Saturday afternoon.

The Huskies knocked off the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils 59-13.

After a disastrous start, UConn ran away with the game to the approval of a boisterous crowd at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.

Seventh-year senior quarterback Joe Fagnano picked up where he left off in 2024, throwing for 260 yards and three touchdowns Saturday.
