A driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence at a Poway DUI checkpoint, authorities said Saturday.
Deputies from the Poway Sheriff’s Station conducted the checkpoint in the 12700 block of Poway Road, according to Sgt. Saleem Payman of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office .
More than 700 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. Of the 537 cars screened, 31 were sent to secondary for evaluation. There were three DUI evaluations and one arrest.
Twelve drivers were cited for operating a vehicle without a license or with a suspended license. Seven drivers were cited for not having their licenses with them and four for disobeying traffic signs and signals. No vehicles were towed.
