Drought concerns continue With a mere 0.07” of rain at the Columbia regional airport, this is a good summary of Mid-Missouri’s August. It’s been extremely dry, and August 2025 is set to be the second-driest August on record, and the 3rd driest month on record for Mid-Missouri. Those subject to the driest conditions will already have observed declining river levels, dry topsoil, and stressed plants. With these extremely dry conditions, drought is rapidly developing across Missouri, with much of mid-Missouri experiencing abnormally dry conditions or a moderate drought. While there are some rain chances through the next week, we are not expecting long-lasting or heavy rainfall.
