SMALL POINT-BROAD COVE-BLACKHEAD-ADAMS COVE — Newfoundland and Labrador has lifted all remaining evacuation alerts for communities affected by a menacing wildfire in Conception Bay North.
The province says in a social media post that communities near the fire, including Western Bay, Ochre Pit Cove, Kingston and Small Point-Adam's Cove-Blackhead-Broad Cove, no longer have to remain on alert.
The wildfire forced residents out on Aug. 4 and destroyed nearly 200 structures in several communities across a 15-kilometre stretch of coastline on the northwest shore of Conception Bay.
All evacuation orders for the area were lifted by Friday, when the fire was classified as being held, but it remained under an alert.
