JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) - On Saturday, hundreds of community members of Jackson and the Church of God gathered together to march the city streets against gun violence in the community.
“What’s so unique is, it originates from the young people. We’re talking about teenagers that are still in high school...That saw a need and said, listen, there’s so many people that are trying to find solutions,” said Antoine Breedlove.
17-year-old Aleeyah Bynum was one of the organizers. She said after the tragic death of 18-year-old Mia Sims in July, something had to be done.
“It’s needed because it’s not only shootings that are happening, gangs anymore, people are catching strays, people are getting shot by their friends,” she said.
