IOWA CITY — Iowa football wide receiver Reece Vander Zee will likely miss multiple games to start the 2025 season due to injury, head coach Kirk Ferentz said following the Hawkeyes' 34-7 win over Albany on Aug. 30.
Ferentz said Vander Zee felt discomfort in his foot leading up to Week 1.
“I don’t know how long he’ll be out," Ferentz said. "But nobody saw it coming, including him. So, I imagine a couple of weeks here. We’ll see.”
Vander Zee was seen before the game on crutches and wearing a boot on his left foot.
The Rock Rapids, Iowa , product was a standout freshman last season. He burst onto the scene in his Hawkeye debut, catching two touchdowns against Illinois State. He finished his freshman campaign with 14 receptions for 176 yards and three touchdowns. He appeared in nine
