GIBSON, Tenn. (WMC) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been called to Gibson County after a sheriff’s deputy, in pursuit of a group of kids suspected of carjacking from a nearby county, reportedly shot one of them.

District Attorney General Frederick Agee requested that the state agency investigate the matter, which occurred Saturday afternoon.

According to preliminary information, at 4:45 p.m., a Madison County deputy spotted a car that was reported stolen from a carjacking earlier in the day and initiated a chase.

TBI says three juveniles were inside the stolen vehicle, which was forcibly taken in the Beech Bluff Road area east of Jackson.

The pursuit continued into Gibson County, where, for reasons still under investigation, the situation escalated, according to TBI.
