Children in Birmingham are growing up in 'third generation unemployed' families believing they 'don't have to work and can rely on benefits', a charity boss has revealed.
Young people have 'never known of anyone working' and are, in some cases, being 'held back' by their family's views, said Ann Powell, manager at unemployment charity SmartWorks.
In Birmingham the unemployment rate is on the rise, with more and more young people claiming benefits.

But in an unassuming office block, a stone's throw from Birmingham city centre , a team is helping women break the cycle of benefits and pursue a different life through work.
"We see a lot of young people who are third generation unemployed, they have never known any
