Residents in the Yonge and Davisville area say they are worried about the loss of local businesses, with a block of stores in the northeast corner slated to be demolished at the end of the month for a new condo development.
Among businesses affected are two local green grocers and a long-standing pub that some residents say has acted as a community hub.
Stephanie McWatters has lived in Davisville Village for 10 years. She says the green grocers allow her to access affordable and healthy food whenever she needs it.
"There is a Metro that's down further, but it is a lot more expensive," McWatters said. "There's another green grocer a little bit further up the street and they are also quite expensive."
