The USA competed without NBA players in the AmeriCup and lost 92-77 to Brazil in the semifinal of the AmeriCup.

Langston Galloway scored 22 points for the team, which included, among others, former EuroLeague champion and Panathinaikos player Jerian Grant. Yago Dos Santos, who is currently a free agent after finishing the season with Crvena Zvezda scored 25 points for the winning side, and also dished 12 assists, while Lucas Dias added 18 points. Brazil was trailing by 20 points in the third period, but they managed to complete an amazing comeback. In the other semifinal, Argentina beat Canada, which was also missing its NBA players.
