We’re into the final couple of days for the Downtown Pedestrian Mall as we know it, although some of the structures may be up beyond that.

Councillor Jill Bruce, who is the councillor in charge, says she has heard from many that this has been the busiest summer in years downtown. Great weather and events such as the Canada Summer Games helped boost the numbers.

Councillor Bruce says they paid extra attention to cleanliness and security this summer. That paid off as visitors told her how impressed they were with the cleanliness this year.

She notes that they had extra security with two trained personnel on from 12pm to 12am. Bruce says just having people in uniform at events makes a difference.
