VERMILION, Ohio (WOIO) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is investigating a deadly crash that occurred early Sunday morning in Vermilion.

The crash occurred around 12:18 a.m. on Darrow Road east of Furnace Street in the Township of Vermilion.

According to a release, a 2003 Dodge Dakota was traveling eastbound on Darrow when the driver, 34-year-old Sarah Gehringer of Wakeman, went too fast exiting a curve and lost control.

The car went off the left side of the road, striking a utility pole and two trees, causing her to be ejected, according to OSHP.

Gehringer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said Gehringer was not wearing a seatbelt, and drugs and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
