Dear Care and Feeding,

I’m 15 years old, and my parents divorced a little over 10 years ago. My stepmom, “Inez,” came into the picture pretty quickly, and my dad married her less than a year after the divorce. (I didn’t put together the timeline then, though I do know I was 5 when they got married—I was so excited to be a flower girl for the wedding!) My parents sold the house, and initially they lived quite near each other in the same town we’d always lived in, but soon my dad moved in with Inez, a 45-minute drive away.
