Now that it has been confirmed that Michael Bay is directing another Transformers movie, several actors could return to the franchise. After Transformers experienced a lot of success in animation in the '80s and '90s, Bay brought the franchise to live-action in 2007. The filmmaker directed the first five live-action Transformers movies , most of which were significant commercial successes.

Despite the financial wins, they were never received well by critics. Because of this, it seemed to make sense for the franchise to head in a new direction after 2017's Transformers: The Last Knight .
