In the early seasons of Fargo , Noah Hawley was careful to get only so close to the specifics of the Coen brothers’ film. Yes, Molly Solverson, the first season’s hero, was a polite female cop from a small Minnesota town, who in some episodes was, like Marge Gunderson in the movie, visibly pregnant and married to a mailman. But she was written as palpably different from Marge, as was Season Three’s police chief Gloria Burgle.
