FRANKFORT, Ky. — While repairs are still underway, the Franklin County Courthouse is set to reopen its doors after April's flooding caused significant damage.

Franklin County Circuit Court Clerk Kim Marshall has worked in the downtown building since 2015 in various roles. But for her and her colleagues, April was their first time responding to critical weather conditions.

"That was Saturday night, around 6 p.m., I got a phone call," she said. "It's going to flood; it's going to go all the way to the ceiling."

The courthouse basement, where the clerk's office is located, had the most damage, with waters that rose several steps high from the basement floor. However, on Tuesday, Sept. 2, services that operate on the upper floors of the courthouse will resume and reopen.
