This week, it was reported that 380 nightclubs have closed in the past five years, as venues struggle against rising bills and the cost-of-living crisis. The downward spiral has also seen the number of clubs in the UK dropping from 1,240 in 2020 to 863 today – a 30 per cent fall.
I find such stats troubling, as while late-night venues are vanishing across the country, they are having a strong resurgence in my life. Being a clubber has helped shape me into the fun and sociable woman that I am today, and clubs have been a cornerstone of London life for as long as I can remember.
