STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WHTM) -- With Saturday's game well-in-hand, Penn State's backup signal caller got in the game and scored his first collegiate touchdown.

Saturday's reps were the first for Ethan Grunkemeyer, a redshirt freshman from the outer suburbs of Columbus, since last year's game against Southern Methodist University.

A graduate of Olentangy High School, Grunkemeyer was a three-year letterwinner for the Braves and played in the Under Armour All-America game.

In 2023, he was a first-team all-state selection in Ohio and set the school records for career passing yards at 8,401, career passing touchdowns at 80, season passing yards at 3,517, and season passing touchdowns at 39.

In his first collegiate appearance last year, he completed one of two passes for nine yards against SMU.
