DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Employees at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention campus in Atlanta have been told to make a full return to headquarters on Sept. 15, a little more than a month after a gunman fired hundreds of rounds at CDC buildings along Clifton Road in DeKalb County.
The notice was sent via email from the new Chief Operating Officer, Lynda Chapman, and reviewed by 11 Alive.
"Your safety remains our top priority,'' Chapman said. "We are taking necessary steps to restore our workplace and will return to regular on-site operations no later than Monday, September 15."
Former CDC employee Sarah Boim stated that the current workers she has spoken with are uncomfortable discussing their concerns publicly and are worried about their safety.
