ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Labor Day honors the U.S. labor movement and also marks the unofficial end to summer, and while most businesses are open, some are closed in recognition of the federal holiday.

Most major retailers and grocery stores will stay open with modified hours. Popular fast food restaurants and coffee chains will also remain open, but double-check your store’s hours before you go.

Mailing services like the U.S. Postal Service, public schools, banks, as well as federal, state, and local government offices are expected to resume operation on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Pharmacies are also closed for the day.
