SPRING MILLS - When Sarah and Andrew Haddock bought Nipetown Hollow Farm, they started with goats and a few Angus cattle. Today, the property is better known for its shaggy, long-horned residents: a growing herd of Highland cows that has become the centerpiece of their farm and community events.

The Haddocks currently raise 13 registered Highland cattle. Their herd includes two calves with more arrivals expected this fall. The couple said the breed is not particularly rare overall, but Highland cows are quite uncommon in this part of the world.
