A person is dead after being struck by a train at the Van Ness-UDC Metro station Sunday morning, according to Metro officials.
Metro officials determined the person intentionally put themselves in front of the train after video review. The person died on the scene.

The Metro station was shut down and trains were not running between Dupont Circle and Friendship Heights because of the incident. Van Ness-UDC has since reopened.
Metro says to expect delays in both directions and trains continue to single track between Van Ness-UDC and Friendship Heights.
Shuttle bus service was provided and Metro advised riders to use bus routes C51, C61, C81, C85, D80, D82, D90 between Tenleytown to Van Ness-UDC and D70 and D72 between V
